Tattoo Studios can open from Monday 13th July 2020

When will tattoo studios open?

Tattoo studios have been closed since March 23rd 2020, since the lockdown we have had calls and emails asking when will tattoo studios reopen.

Classed as non-essential businesses tattoo studio were not included in the gradual reopening in June of retail businesses. Under government guidelines Tattoo Studios, Barbers, hairdressers, beauty and nail bars must remain closed until further notice.

All businesses must be Covid-Secure, tattoo studios already have strict procedure to follow which prevent cross contamination in their studios. At the beginning of the Coronavirus outbreak tattoo studios were already putting hand sanitation stations near the entrance for customer to disinfect their hands when entering the studio. Upon re opening in addition to this customer are expected to be required to wear face masks.

Tattoo artists will be working by appointment only, (many already do this) and walk ins will have to phone first to see if there is a free appointment, browsing will be kept to a minimum with consultations encouraged to be done via social media.

With tattoo studio having now been closed for near on three month we advise those wishing to have a tattoo to contact their tattooist now to add their names to waiting lists for appointments and a consultation, a lot of tattooists are keeping busy drawing designs for customer ready for when they reopen.

COVID-19 and Tattoo Studio’s in the UK

This pandemic is said to have first appeared in the UK last January, there were reports of people getting a real bad flu like illness around this time that went on for weeks.

Following the news on March 20th 2020 the Government had shut schools restaurants, pubs, indoor entertainment venues and leisure centres. We were already wiping down all door handles with soapy water and bleach every time someone had entered the studio. Normal tattoo studio hygiene precautions cover just about everything except a pandemic like this.

The government announced a full lock down on March 23rd 2020. The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) Regulations 2020. http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2020/350/pdfs/uksi_20200350_en.pdf

Tattoo Studio’s will most likely be one of the last businesses that are allowed to reopen, there will be a new normal as the lock down is eased. Switzerland and Denmark have allowed tattoo studio’s to reopen, and face masks are required along with the normal gloves and hygiene precaution. MORE
